Our Tibetan Lung Ta (windhorse) prayer flags make the perfect gift for someone you care about or to support your spiritual practice.
Our Lung Ta horizontal prayer flags have been handmade by Tibetan artisans in Nepal. These use a traditional woodblock print method and are guaranteed to be Fair Trade.
Lung Ta prayer flags are traditionally strung across doorways, roofs, temples, stupas or mountain passes and are believed to carry blessings from the prayers or mantras depicted on each flag. Wind blowing across the flags is said to purify and sanctify the air. As the flags fade, due to the sun and other elements, they are believed to become more auspicious and serve as a reminder of how the world constantly changes and we are all ultimately destined to decay in accordance with nature's laws.
The five colours of the flags follow traditional Chinese colour theory, each one representing one of the natural elements: water, fire, wood, metal and earth.
